Hammondsport – Frederick E. Clark "Loving Father and Grandfather" Frederick E. Clark, formerly of 744 Garden Avenue, passed away on Thursday, September 10th, 2020 at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, following a brief illness. Mr. Clark was born on July 21, 1929 in Ann Arbor, MI and was the son of Ray O. and Betty Clark. On June 18, 1955, at St. Mary of the Angels Church, he married his wife of 49 years, Audrey Gayle Maraffa, who predeceased him on Sept. 21, 2004. Mr. Clark grew up on North 12th Street in Olean and attended Olean High School. On Jan. 3, 1951, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the 508th Airborne where he received his Parachute Badge. In 1952 and 1953, Mr. Clark served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Clark coached Little League baseball for 9 years and managed various softball teams. He retired from Dresser Rand in 1992 after 36 years. Mr. Clark was a lifetime member of the VFW Olean Post #1619, the disabled American Veterans (DAV), Empire State #2, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #119 and the Elks Lodge #491, both in Olean, the Hinsdale American Legion #1434, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #616. Mr. Clark was an avid golfer and past member of the Pine Acres Country Club and St. Bonaventure Golf Club. He enjoyed playing golf during the summers in New York and the winters in California. Mr. Clark is survived by; his 4 children, Deborah (Frank) Shaver, Paul Clark, Sharon Clark Masuoka, and David Clark; 9 grandchildren, Eric & Kyle Shaver, Brooke Clark, Kathryn (Kyle) Donnici, Julia (Jordan) Martin, Audrey and Natalie (James Fetherolf) Masuoka, Alexis Clark, and Angie (Brent) McDonald; and 6 great grandchildren, Autumn Shaver, Naomi Fetherolf, Jordyn Martin, Emiko Donnici, and Breanna & Dominic McDonald. Friends will be received on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, beginning with a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, 202 S. Union St. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892 Ritual Team.
