Obituary of Allen L. Parker

Olean – Allen L. "Pete" Parker Allen L. "Pete" Parker, of Olean, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at the Pine Health & Rehab of Machias, following a long illness. Pete was born on June 25, 1941 in Olean and was a son of John B. and Nellie C. Sherman Parker. On March 3, 1961 at the First Baptist Church of Olean, he married his wife of 59 years, Sandra L. Songer, who survives. Pete worked at McKean Machinery as well as Managed the Olean Raceway, until it closed to make room for the Southern Tier Expressway. Pete and his partner Bud Johnson started their own business "Drive Shaft Specialist" in 1983. He retired in 2009 after 26 years. Pete was a life-time member of the town of Olean Fire Department and was a foreman of the Town of Olean Fire Commissioners for many, many years. He was also an active member of the Street Classic Car Club. Pete loved fishing and NASCAR Pete's passion was racing. He owned many racecars throughout his life. Pete's Partner Bud Johnson was not only his partner, he also drone one of his cars. Along with his loving wife, Pete is survived by; 3 sons, Randy A. (Edwina) Parker, Kerry L. (Annette) Parker, and Peter J. (Amy) Parker all of Olean; 5 grandchildren, Garrett, Randy, Stacy, Kody, and McKenna; several great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Linda Sherwood of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. Pete was predeceased by; his parents; 4 brothers, John, Sherman "Lyle", Neil, and Orin Parker; a sister, Elaine Sroka; and an infant daughter, Trudi Parker. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc.,646 East State Street, Olean, on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Mt. View Cemetery on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Town of Olean Fire Department 1297 Old Rock City Road, Olean, NY 14760 or to the SPCA Route 16 N, Olean, NY 14760.
