Obituary of Richard J. Mansfield

Richard J. Mansfield, of 350 Front Street, Apartment #604, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at his home following an apparent heart attack.
Rich was born July 30, 1953 in Olean and was a son of Allen and Dolores Diesfeld Mansfield. He was formerly married to Pamela R. Fitzpatrick and Lindsey M. Eaton.
Rich graduated from Olean High School in 1971. In 1973, he became a manager for the McDonalds in Colorado. Rich continued his career as a manager for many enterprises including Wendy's and Ponderosa. Rich also was a handy man and worked in construction as well. He loved to travel and lived in many places. Some of these places were Arizona, California, and Texas. Rich returned to Olean in 1995. He joined the Maintenance department at Brookside Community until he retired.
Rich was a member of the St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rich was a "Jack of all trades." He was a very funny man with a good sense of humor and caring heart. Rich was affectionately known by many as G-Pa, not only by his grandchildren but also their friends. Rich would attend all of their sporting events and would cheer all of them on with his big booming voice. He was every child's biggest fan. Rich will be sorely missed by many.
Rich is survived by four children, Ryan Johnson, Teri E. (Martin) Kahle, Emily I. Johnson, and Jessica R. (David) Straub of Olean; nine grandchildren, Heather Matya, Quinton Matya, Sarah Johnson, Dominik Kahle, Drew Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Victoria Kahle, Cayden Johnson, and Brody Lippert; three brothers, Allen (Ellen) Mansfield of Charleston, NC, John Mansfield of Rochester, and Thomas (Chris) Mansfield of Rochester; one sister, Judy (Autrey) "Fuzzy" Harris of Madisonville, TX; and several nieces & nephews.
Rich was predecease by his parents; and one brother, Joseph Mansfield in 2009.
A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Mary of the Angels Church, on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery at the family's convenience.
