Obituary of Carolyn A. Kron

Carolyn A. Kron, of 120 North Clinton Street, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016 at the Pines Health & Rehab, following a lengthy illness. Carolyn was born on Dec. 26, 1937 in Waterbury, CT and was a daughter of Rev. E. Einar and Ingrid E. Andren Kron. She graduated from Olean High School in 1955. Carolyn attended Elmira College and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1960 and the University of Minnesota in 1964. Known as "Miss Kron" to her Portville Elementary third-graders, Carolyn returned to Olean after college and taught in Portville for 33 years, retiring in 1997. Carolyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the honorary teachers' society Delta Kappa Gamma (Beta Epsilon Chapter). She volunteered for the Olean Food Pantry and the Greater Olean Association of Churches, where she served as treasurer. When not working or volunteering, Carolyn enjoyed sewing, needlecrafts and jigsaw puzzles. Carolyn is survived by one sister, Janet Zage of Lake-in-the-Hills, IL; four nephews; two nieces; four grandnephews; and three grandnieces. Carolyn was predeceased by a sister, Arline Stephany. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Bethany Lutheran Church #6 Leo Moss Drive, Olean. The Rev. Marie A. Meeks, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be at the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lakewood. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean.
