Obituary of Lynda E. Hood

Lynda E. Hood of 974 Portville-Olean Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the Olean General Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Lynda was born June 6, 1952 in Somerville, NJ and was a daughter of Joseph John and Olga Naruta Sparatta. On Oct. 5, 1985 in Stafford, she married her husband of 30 years, Donald R. Hood, who survives. Lynda graduated from Hunterdon High School in 1970. She lived in Batavia for a period of time, where she owned and operated a fish market. Lynda lived in Florida from 1996 to 2003, where she worked as a teacher's aide. Upon moving back to Portville she became a realtor and worked for Randy Pepper, which became Real Estate Pros & More right up until her illness in August 2015. Lynda was a member of the St. Mary of the Angels Church, where she volunteered for many events and occasions. Lynda enjoyed decorating, cooking, gardening, and loved working as a real estate agent, but she truly loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Along with her loving husband, Lynda is survived by three children, Melynda T. (Jason) Strawser of Painted Post, Megan M. Sikorski of West Seneca, and Shane M. (Colleen) Hood of Allegany; two grandchildren, Mason Strawser & Luke Hood; six siblings, Carol LaCamp, Donna Sparatta, John (Mariland) Sparatta, James (Sandy) Sparatta, Maryann (John Newton) Sparatta, and Terry Sparatta; and many nieces and nephews. Lynda was predeceased by one sister, Janet Sparatta, who passed away in 1981. Friends will be received on Saturday July 30, 2016 at St, Mary of the Angels Church from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at which time a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held. The Rev.
