James L. Bateski, age 76, of Foster Brook, PA died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at his home, following a long illness. Mr. Bateski was born January 1, 1940 in Kane, PA . He is the son of John and Ida Brittain Bateski. On July 29, 1978, in Portville, he married his wife of 37 years, Maryellen A. Cooley, who survives. James served in the Air Force from Feb. 16, 1962 to Feb. 7, 1966. He worked for Dresser Rand for 19 years before going to work for the NY State Dept of Corrections at Gowanda State Prison as a corrections officer, retiring in Feb. 2005. James was a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bradford. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping, baseball and all sports. Along with his loving wife, James is survived by three children; five stepchildren; several grandchildren & great granchildren; and two brothers, John & David Bateski. Visitation and Funeral Services were private. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor at St. Mary of the Angels Church, officiated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, #646 E. State St., Olean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
