Obituary of Larry A. Wright

Larry A. Wright of 3186 Morgan Hollow Road, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Wright was born on August 27, 1935 in Olean and was a son Bert L. and Margaret Howard Wright. On November 11, 1962 in Olean he married his loving wife of 49 years, Jean M. Allen, who survives.
Larry was a 1953 graduate of Olean High School. He began working at Clark Brother in 1953 and he retired 47 years later on Oct. 1, 2000. The last three years before his retirement, Dresser sent him to Huston Texas to manage their Huston Plant. After retirement, Dresser called him back as a consultant and was sent to Brazil and Russia on various jobs. He continued is education through out career, receiving an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering from JCC.
Larry was a member of the Olean Civil Defense for 25 years. He loved being in the outdoors and was an avid hunter and enjoyed camaraderie of guys he hunted with. Larry loved his wife and children and especially his grandchildren who fondly called him Papa and Poppy.
Surviving Mr. Wright besides his wife are a son, Barry A. (Lisa) Wright of New Port Richey, Fl.; a daughter, Patricia A. (Todd) Wright-Tilly of Olean; four grand children, Miranda L. Wright, David A. Wright, Mitchell A. Tilly and Connor A. Tilly; and a brother, David (Shirley) Wright of Portville.
Mr. Wright was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Erika J. Wright on Jan. 25, 1987; four brothers, Howard, Robert, Norman and Buddy Wright; and two sisters, Edna Conrad and June Potter.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral and Committal Services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Al Batt, Associate Pastor of the Southside Union Chapel in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department Main Street, Allegany, NY 14706 or to the Portville Library Main Street, Portville, NY 14770.
