Phyllis A. Schibler of 984 Wagner Hill Road, passed into the hands of the Lord on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 following an lengthy illness. Born in Buffalo, NY on Nov. 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and late Teresa (nee Henry) Schibler and a sister of David Schibler and the late Bernice Moretuzzo. Ms. Schibler graduated from St. Agnes School in Buffalo and the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Eggertsville, NY. She attended Bryant & Stratton Business School and the University of Buffalo. Ms. Schibler began her teaching career at St. James Grammar School in Buffalo and St. Mary's On The Hill Grammar School in Lancaster, NY. She then went on to teach physical education at St. Mary's High School in Lancaster, and then managed the school cafeteria for a number of years. After which, she changed careers and pursued a new line of work in the food service industry managing at the Lancaster Country Club, Buffalo Yacht Club and Bartlett Country Club in Olean, NY. After 38 years in this field she again changed careers working in collections at CUTCO Corporation in Olean, NY where she retired in 1996. Ms. Schibler was an active member and officer of the CUTCO Retirees Club. She also volunteered with the Mental Health Association and Interfaith Caregivers. She was instrumental in organizing the Hinsdale Heritage Days and initiated the Trunk & Tree Party for the residents of Hinsdale. Ms. Schibler was a parishioner and bookkeeper of the former St. Helen's Parish in Hinsdale, NY. She was a past President of the Guys and Gals of Hinsdale, and a former member and officer of the New York State Club Managers Association. Phyllis will be sadly missed by many friends, especially her adopted families, George and Colleen Zybala of Williamsville, NY; Jonathan and Darlene Zybala of Melbourne, Australia; Brian, Monica, Eleanor and Imogene Zybala of Lancaster, NY; the Paul and Diane Banyi family of Buffalo, NY; the John Sheehan family of Olean, NY; and the Joseph Kielar family of Bulls Gap, TN. There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 931 N. Union St. The Rev. Barry J. Allaire will celebrate. Internment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lancaster, NY officiated by Msgr. David LiPluma. Flowers gratefully declined.
