Thomas E. Mountain 72, of Cuba, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at home.
Mr. Mountain was born January 28, 1936 at the Mountain Clinic, Olean. He was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Swift) Mountain. On October 7, 1961, in Rushford he married Margery Cole, who survives.
Mr. Mountain was Salutatorian of the Class of 1954 at Rushford Central School. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp serving from March 15, 1955 until March 31, 1961. Mr. Mountain was a dedicated member of Local Union #621 for 48 years working for Potter DeWitt and LC Whitford Construction Companies.
Mr. Mountain was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church and a member of the Cuba VFW Post #2721 and a former member of the Cuba American Legion Post 655.He loved baseball, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved being around his family, grandchildren and friends.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Steven (Kelly) Mountain of Batavia; three daughters, Katie (Andy) Moore of Olean, Janet (Mark) Stolberg of Cuba, and Rebecca (David) Fuller of Cuba; 12 grandchildren, Chelsea, Melissa and Tanner Mountain, Zachary, Samuel, Alexander Laura and Adam Moore, Eric and Kayleigh Stolberg, and Hannah and Leah Fuller; four brothers, James (Mary) Mountain of Belfast, David (Barbara) Mountain of Rushford, William (Betty Jo) Mountain of Albion, and Robert (Diane) Mountain of Bolivar; a sister, Mary Jane (Patrick) McCumiskey of Belfast; a sister-in-law Sharon Mountain of Portville; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mountain was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Mountain in 1989 and a brother, Donald Mountain in 2007.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 14, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home #24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba. The Rev. Jerome M. Dissek, Pastor, will Celebrant. Burial will be in the Bellville Cemetery, New Hudson.
