Obituary of Winifred S. Sanford

Winifred S. Sanford of 63 Katherine St., formerly of Monroeville, passed away Sunday March 21, 2010 at the Lakeview Senior Center, Smethport, Pa. Mrs. Sanford was born on April 6, 1925 in Wilkinsburg, PA and was the daughter of Stanley and Anna Pflaum Smith. On September 4, 1948 she married her husband of 35 years, C. William Sanford, who predeceased her on January 3, 1984. Mrs. Sanford was a 1944 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. She attended the Wilma Boyd Finishing School. Mrs. Sanford, for much of her life, worked part time for various employers. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking and reading. Mrs. Sanford was a member of the Cloverbells Golf League in Murrysville, Pa. Mrs. Sanford is survived by two sons, Mark T. (Valjean) Sanford of Crownsville, Maryland, and Dana M. (Bonni) Sanford of Monroeville, PA; one daughter, Bonnie S. (Ron) Caskey of Port Allegany, PA; seven grandchildren, Aaron Sanford, Dana Sanford, Caitlin A. Sanford, Evan Sanford, Zachary Sanford, Kristin C. (Ryan) Patterson and Amy C. (Joey) Van Riper; two great grandchildren, Emma S. Sanford and Riley G. Patterson; one brother, Morell C. (Frances) Smith of Pottstown, PA; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Robert Wise of Rochester, NY. Mrs. Sanford is pre-deceased by her husband and a brother Donald P. Smith. At her request the will be no visitation. A Celebration of her Life gathering will be held at a date and time to be announced in Monroeville, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made, if desired, to the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
