Obituary of Milton O. Rodkey

Mr. Milton O. "Rod" Rodkey, of 311 Arland Avenue, formerly of Cuba, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Rodkey was born on Dec. 29, 1930 in Lewistown, PA and was the son of Merle and Elizabeth Treaster Rodkey. Mr. Rodkey was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. Mr. Rodkey worked for 40 years as a machinist at Dresser-Rand, Olean. When he retired in 1993 he was machinist in the Poly Shop. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2721, the American Legion 655 both of Cuba, NY, F&AM 306 Cuba, NY, Olean Moose 119, SOAR, and the Union Retirees Club 04601. Mr. Rodkey was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of the Coudersport Consistory and he was also a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and an avid golfer who was proud to have a hole-in-one. Mr. Rodkey is survived by a son David A. (Michele) Rodkey of Olean; two daughters, Diane M. (David) Tuttle of Friendship, and Roslyn J. (Thomas) Stuart of Marysville, PA; a brother, Merle L. (Jean) Rodkey of Summerfield, FL; a sister, Doris J. Rothrock of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; three grandchildren, Douglas W. Bunk, Tyler W. Rodkey, and Kaylin J. Rodkey; a long time loving companion, Grace Wildfire with whom he lived for many years; two nieces; and three nephews. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Samuel E. Marchetta will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Mt. View Cemetery, Veteran's Field of Honor in Olean at future date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County VA Van Service in care of the Veterans Service Agency 1701 Lincoln Ave. Olean, New York, 14760 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
