Obituary of Wendell K. Norton

Wendell K. Norton of 4216A Moss Brook Road, Passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital. Mr. Norton was born on Feb. 21, 1937 in Hornell and was a son of Kenneth C. and Ruth Elizabeth Hulburt Norton. On June 29, 1974 in Scio, NY he married Kathleen J. Foley, who survives. Mr. Norton was a 1954 graduate of Scio Central School. He began working at New York Telephone in 1955 and retired 35 years later in 1990 as a dispatch supervisor. Mr. Norton loved to work in both his flower and vetable gardens. He enjoyed working on his farm and taking care of his animals. Mr. Norton was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Surviving Mr. Norton besides his wife 35 years are a daughter, Ruth E. Schmidt of Friendship; a grandson, Zebadiah L. Schmidt of Friendship; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Norton was pre-deceased by three brothers, Lyle, Carlton and William Norton; and a sister, Thelma Horton. Friends will be received on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba, where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 12noon. The Rev. Marian H. Schneider, Allegany County Episcopal Ministres, will officiate. Burial will be in the Until The Day Dawn Cemetery, Angelica, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SPCA.
