Virginia A. Hitchcock of 243 Rt. 16 South, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 at the Absolut at Allegany following a long illness surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hitchcock was born on May 30, 1939 in Clayton, DE. and was the daughter of Paul and Laura Smith Plummer. On Jan. 25, 1958 in Franklinville, she married Charles E. Hitchcock Sr. who survives. Virginia was employed for 47 years by ACME electric, first in Allegany and then in Cuba. She retired in 2004 after 47 years as a Quality Control Inspector. Virginia was a former member of Eastern Star and the Knapp Creek Fire Department. She enjoyed shopping, knitting & crocheting, and collecting angels. She especially liked going to their camp on Lamoka Lake in the summer time. In addition to her husband of 52 years, Mrs. Hitchcock is survived by a daughter-in-law, Venessa R. Hitchcock of Knapp Creek; two grandchildren, Ryan C. and Erin R. Hitchcock; and two brothers, Paul J. (Mary) Plummer of Maryland, and Frederick (Linda) Plummer of Franklinville. Mrs. Hitchcock is predeceased by a son, Charles E. Hitchcock, Jr. on July 27, 2007. Friends will be received on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm. Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral and Committal Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Bradley D. Chesebro officiating. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her husband, Charles E. Hitchcock, Sr. to help offset medical expenses.
