Obituary of Anna R. Hirliman

Mrs. Anna R. Hirliman of 1123 Irving Street passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at home. Mrs. Hirliman was born on Jan. 4, 1927 in Olean and was the daughter of Hurbert and Rose Fahey Snyder. On April 9, 1942, in Olean, she married James E. Hirliman, who predeceased her on Oct. 27, 1979. Mrs. Hirliman was a 1945 graduate of Olean High School. She was as a substitute teacher's aid for the Olean Schools for many years and then became full time in 1980. She retired after about 20 years with the school system. Mrs. Hirliman was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church where she helped with funeral luncheons. She was a life member of the St. Stephen's Club and a 20 year active member of the Olean Senior League. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzle books, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Hirliman is survived by two sons, John W. Hirliman of Olean, and James A. (Laura) Hirliman of Macedon, NY; a daughter, Lynn A. Hirliman of Olean; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Hurbert Snyder of Olean; and a sister, Frances (David) Outerkirk of Olean. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hirliman is predeceased by a daughter, Rose Marie Hirliman in 1966; two sons, Richard M. Hirliman in 1980, and Robert D. Hirliman in 1980; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hirliman on May 8, 2008; two brothers, John and William Snyder; and one sister, Mary Chapman. Friends will be received on Tuesday, Oct. 5 2010 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 beginning with a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. Memorial may be made to the St. Mary of the Angels Renovation Fund, 202 S. Union Street, Olean, NY 14760.
