Obituary of Matthew Gordon Colley

Matthew G. Colley of 424 Second Ave. formerly of Cuba passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in the Olean General Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Matthew was born on Feb. 24, 1964 in Cuba and was a son of William R. and Mable Gordon Colley, Sr. He was a 1982 graduate of Cuba Central School. Matthew also graduated from Jamestown Community College and Fredonia State. He taught English at the High School and College levels in South Korea, Bulgaria and China.
Matthew enjoyed traveling and often visited other countries near where he was teaching. Matthew was very found of Bulgaria and its people, where he had made many friends. Matthew had a gift with languages and he spoke many of them. He also enjoyed reading, writing and art.
Matthew is survived by a sister, Cynthia L. Colley of Cuba; a brother, William "Bumper" Colley of Longneck, Delaware; two nieces, Jillian J. Maxson of Cuba, and Alaine M. Colley of Skaneateles; and dear friends, Mike (Wendy Tuttle) Miller of Cuba.
He was pre-deceased by his parents.
As per Matthew request there will not be any visitation. A Graveside Committal Service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean at 2:00 PM.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
