Obituary of Billie Gayle Wheeler

Billie Gayle Wheeler of 1416 Steam Valley Road, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at home.
Gayle was born Sep. 3, 1935 in Ceres and was the daughter of Jasper E. and Erma D. Burrell Torrey. On Jan. 14, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Portville, she married her husband of 35 years, Lawrence R. Wheeler, who predeceased her Sep. 19, 1991.
Gayle graduated from Portville Central School in 1954. She worked several different jobs including Eastside Pizzeria until 2000 and Reid's Food Barn where she retired in 2010. Gayle was a member of the River's Edge United Methodist Church in Portville. She loved to play bingo and go bowling.
Gayle is survived by three sons, Everett B. (Cindy) Wheeler of Arcade, Ralph E. (Denise) Wheeler of Clover, SC, and Andy (Beckie) Wheeler of Olean; two daughters, Patricia J. (Loran) Fairfield of Gastonia, NC, and Stefanie A. (Shane) Thurst of Olean; many grand and great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas (Boni) Torrey of Portville, and Daniel Torrey of Pennsylvania; and one foster sister, Joan Kerr Torrey Goss.
Along with her loving husband, Gayle was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Torrey in 1980, and W. Michael Torrey; and one foster sister, Patricia Kerr.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the River's Edge United Methodist Church, Portville. The Rev. Clara E. Wilder will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
