Wendy J. Karnes of 312 Looker Mountain Trail, formerly of Cuba died Saturday, April 26, 2008 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Mrs. Karnes was born on Jan. 15, 1970 in Cuba and is the daughter of Connie Smith. She was a 1988 graduate of Cuba High School. Mrs. Karnes worked as a parts manager at Advanced Auto Parts in Olean and then for AVX in Olean for 5 years. Mrs. Karnes worked for the Uni-Mart in Bradford and then at Bradford Forest Products before going to work at Beacon Light as Mental Health Technician. Currently she was a Cage Cashier at the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca. Mrs. Karnes enjoyed fishing & hunting, reading and music. But most of all she loved her family and especially her daughters who she enjoyed spending time with. She will be remembered for her BIG HEART and compassion for others. Surviving Mrs. Karnes are her mother, Connie E. Smith of Cuba; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Karnes and Emily J. Karnes of Bradford; Soul Mate, Tim J. Butler of Bradford; three step grandchildren, Aden, Emily & Luca Butler; a half brother, Lance Carlson of Mt. Olive, NC; seven aunts & uncles, Joann Lee, Eva Willetts, Diana Whicther, Royal (Sonny) Smith, Melvin & Donna Smith, Marty & Luann Smith, and Asher Smith. She was pre-deceased by aunts & uncles, Ida Carey, Verna Warner and John Howard. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (April 30, 2008) at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Leslie E. Chamber, Pastor of the West Clarksville Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wendy's Mother Connie E. Smith at 9077 Spring Street Cuba, NY 14727 for the care of her daughters.
