Obituary of Esther F. Strauss

Esther F. Strauss formerly of 137 North 8th Street & Eden Heights passed away Friday June 28, 2013 in The Pines Health &Rehab. Mrs. Strauss was born March 24, 1917 in Erie, Pa. and was the daughter of Isadore H. and Rose Shneiderman Freitag. On July 7, 1940 she married James Strauss who pre-deceased her on April 24, 1957. Esther was a 1935 graduate of Olean High School and she continued her education at Bryant & Stratton where she received a degree in Business. Esther worked at Freitags Liquor Store as a Manager much of her life. She was a member of the Temple B'Nai Israel. Esther was a volunteer at the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Esther is survived by a daughter, Helen A. (Samuel) Ribbler of Bexley, Ohio; grandchildren, Sara Ribbler, Leslie Ribbler and Maxwell (Marimer Rivera) Ribbler; and a brother, Manuel J. (Theresa Hibye) Freitag. In addition to her parents she is pre-deceased by two brothers Louis and Hervin J. Freitag. Funeral Services where held on Sunday June 30, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Followed by grave side services at 11:00 am in B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Olean. Dr. David Schulman officiated. Shiva was held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 and will be held today, Monday, July 1, 2013 at 953 Prospect Ave, Olean from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to B'Nai Israel Temple 127 S. Barry Street, Olean, New York 14760 or charity of the donor's choice.
