Kevin Karst "Sparky" Searl of 32 Maple Street, Cuba passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends, following a lengthy illness.
Kevin was born January 25, 1977 in Olean and is the son of Richard E. and Patricia A (Roat) Searl. A graduate of Cuba Central School, "Class of 96", Kevin lived in Cuba all his life. Known as a respectful, quiet, simple, loving man. Kevin loved music. Receiving his first guitar from his Grandma Roat at the age of 4, he learned to play on his own eventually becoming lead guitarist for the band "Cut and Run". He also enjoyed reading, cooking, video games, playing pool and being with his friends.
Kevin is survived by his mother and father, Richard and Patricia Searl of Cuba; his grandmother, Elsie Vogel of Belfast; a sister, Adrianne S. (Ben) Fuller of Olean; one uncle, Kalvin Roat of Olean; two aunts, Kathy Rich of Caneadea, and Shiela Hull of Wellsville; six nieces and nephews, Nahvonna, Anikyn, Danzic, Evein, Atreyu, Anyicyon Fuller; six cousins, Michael and Creig Shul, Christina Burrows, Steven Dougherty, Jr., Alesha and Spencer Hull; and a special life long friend, Joe Johnson of Belmont.
Kevin was predeceased by both of his grandfathers, Malcom (Bud) Roat and Alva Vogel; a niece, Nieve Ann Fuller.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy., Cuba on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Friday August 2, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Carl Holmes, Pastor of the Rawson Road Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family would also like to thank Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Kevin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Home Care & Hospice, 118 N. Main St., Wellsville, N.Y. 14895 or to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, N.Y. 14240-9856. The family requests visitors to wear casual attire.
