Gary C. Ludwig of 4460 Union Hill Road Hinsdale, NY passed away Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013 at the Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Gary was born July 1, 1944 in Port Allegany, PA and was a son of Glenn W. and Margaret D. Passmore Ludwig, Sr. He was formerly married to Donna Weeks.
Gary graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1959. He served in the US Navy on the USS WASP from March 17, 1960 to March 16, 1994. After his service he was in the US Navy Reserves. Gary worked for many years as an equipment operator for a construction companies both in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Gary had been a fiddle player all of his life. He played fiddle for number of years at Busch Gardens, FL and then in a local band called "Enchanted Mountain Green." He worked as a nursing assistant for many years in a VA hospital in West Virginia starting from about 1985 to 1994. He formerly attended the Church of God in Eldred. Gary was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 25 years of sobriety. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by three siblings, Francis E. Ludwig, Sr. of FL, Glenn W. "Bill" (Frances) Ludwig, Jr. of Niagara Falls, and Beverly K. Card of Cuba; several loving nieces & nephews; and the love of his life, his dog, Ladybug.
Gary was predeceased by three siblings, Mildred O. Ganoung, Keith Ludwig, and Duane M. Ludwig.
There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at the Church of God in Eldred at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Charles "Bud" Lasher will officiate. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany, Pa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, New York 14760.
