Obituary of Joyce A. Laird

Joyce Anna Laird, formerly of 3251 Rte 16 N, Olean, passed away Wednesday, Sep. 11, 2013 at the Wyoming County Nursing Home in Warsaw, following a lengthy illness. Joyce was born Oct. 21, 1929 in Olean and was the daughter of Chauncey L. and Ruth M. Carpenter Wagner. On Sep. 1, 1975, she married her husband, Virgil H. Laird, who predeceased her Oct. 21, 1979. Joyce graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1947. She studied for 1 year at Houghton College and then graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. As a Bible Club Missionary she worked in Gloversville, Erie, PA, and in Montana before returning New York as a Missionary in Schenectady. Joyce was a member of the Maplehurst Baptist Church. Joyce is survived by her stepchildren; two brothers, Raymond C. (Patricia) Wagner of Olean, and Dale C. Wagner of Springville, CA; one sister, Faith R. (Ray Paul) Pressler of Little Ferry, NJ; and one sister-in-law, Helen Wagner of Hinsdale. Along with her loving husband, Joyce was predeceased by one brother, Wayne Wagner. Friends will be received Friday, Sep. 20, 2013 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, New York 14760 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Sep. 21, 2013 at the Maplehurst Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Terry L. Jenks, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hinsdale Cemetery.
