Robert E. Isaman of 507 Queen Street passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at home following a lengthy illness.
Bob was born May 25, 1931 in Olean, and was a son of Clarence Eugene and Sophia Cecelia Lipman Isaman. On March 4, 1964 he married his wife of almost 48 years Mary Louise Blaske, who predeceased him Feb. 7, 2012.
Bob graduated from Olean High School in 1949. He became a mail sorter in Olean Post Office in 1951. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany from March 20, 1952 to Feb. 19, 1954. While in the Army he was also a mail sorter. After his service Bob returned to the Olean Post Office where he continued to work until his retirement in the early 1990's after more than 40 years.
Starting at the young age of 12 at the Bartlett Country Club, Bob was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed golfing at Birch Run, where he got a hole in one on Oct. 1, 1969 and has won several championships and trophies. Bob enjoyed reading, walking at the Olean Center Mall and being a Ball Hawk. Bob was known for his witty sayings, which he had one for all occasions and for having a very smooth swing on the golf curse. He was truly a Gentleman by definition to all.
He was a member of the Olean First Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Karen L. Isaman of Olean, and Lisa J. (Joseph D. Schiccitano) Hennig of Portville; and one brother-in-law, Robert Blaske of Allegany.
Along with his loving wife, Robert was predeceased by one son. Roger K. Hennig in 1985; and one sister, Virginia Isaman.
There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Memorials may be made to the SPCA.
