Richard J. Freed of 900 Route 446, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at home following a lengthy illness. Richard was born Dec. 22, 1948 in Cobleskill and was a son of Leroy and Marjie Juanita Mizer Freed. He was formerly married to Terry L. Waite-Westfall. Richard was a gradate of Ellicottville High School and Bryan & Stratton Business School. He worked at York Merit in Ellicottville before going to work at Dresser in Olean. He worked at Dresser for about 10 years until an injury forces him to retire in the mid 1990's. He enjoyed the out door's including fishing and photography. He was an accomplished artist and enjoyed doing stain glass windows, wood carving and making duck decoys. Richard is survived by a son, Russell J. (Lana) Freed of Olean; and a brother, Robert (Kay) Freed of Rome, Pa. Richard was pre-deceased by a son Richard J. Freed II on Dec. 14, 1995. Friend will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Robert Cook will officiate.
