Obituary of Paul D. Yaw

Paul D. Yaw of 5 Medbury Heights passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital.
Mr. Yaw was born on May 19, 1921 in Ischua and was a son of Harvey and Leona Everetts Yaw. On May 29, 1942 in Franklinville he married Iola Stanbro, who pre-deceased him on Oct. 11, 1985.
Mr. was a 1939 graduate of Ten Brook Academy in Franklinville. He serviced in the U.S. Army during WWII from June 19, 1944 to Feb. 5, 1946. Following the war Mr. Yaw began working at ACME electric where he worked for about 40 years. He was a Precision Sheet Metal worker when he retired in 1986.
Mr. Yaw was a long time member of the West Clarksville Baptist Church where he served as deacon for a number of years and also treasurer for 15 years. He was a member of both the Cuba and Ischua Fire Department. Mr. Yaw also served on the Cuba Village Board in the early 1970's. Mr. Yaw was also a member of the Cuba American Legion Post 655. He enjoyed Hunting Fishing and he enjoyed planting flowers in and around the village of Cuba.
Surviving Mr. Yaw are two sons, Thomas D. (Lynette) Yaw of Rochester, and Douglas S. (Nancy) Yaw of Geneseo; a daughter, Nancy K. (Terry) Collins of Richburg; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Keech of Hinsdale, and Carl (Norma) Stanbro of Franklinville; and a sister, Ida Brooks of Phoenix, AZ.
Mr. Yaw was pre-deceased by two sisters, Virginia Melfi and Minnie Brooks, and a a brother, Earl Brooks.
Friends will be received today, Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 6-9 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy Cuba. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the West Clarksville Baptist Church. The Rev. Leslie Chamber, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
