Virginia A. Simon of 927 Crown St. passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Pines Health and Rehab following an illness. Mrs. Simon was born on January 28, 1925 in Westfield, IL. and was the daughter of Lawrence and Blanch Martin Myers. On January 13, 1945 in Louisville, KY she married her husband of 64 years, Mr. Raymond J. Simon who survives. Mrs. Simon was a gradate of Portville Central High School. She worked as an Executive Secretary at St. Bonaventure University until her retirement in 1972. Mrs. Simon was a member of St. Joseph Maronite Rite Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved very much. Besides her husband Mrs. Simon is survived by a son, Jeffrey J. (Eileen) Simon of New Providence, NJ.; a daughter, Dawn Rene (Patrick) Yehl of Canandaigua, NY.; two sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Dunshie of Westons Mills, and Bonnie (Robert) Bartlett of Sun City, AZ.; five grandchildren, Katherine Simon, Peter Yehl, Caitlin Yehl, Lauren Yehl and Brian Yehl; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Simon was predeceased by four brothers, Victor, Claud, Harold and Donald Myers; and three sisters, Goldie Haupt, Jenvieve Anderson and Helen Karns. At her request there will be on public visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Maronite Church. The Rev. MSGR William O. Wangler will celebrate in the absence of The Rev. Joseph Akiki. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church 331 North 4th Street, Olean, NY 14760 or to the Friends or the Pines 2245 West State Street, Olean, New York 14760. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
