Douglas N. Reed Sr. of 311 North First St. Apt. #2, Olean passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Buffalo General Hospital following an illness. Mr. Reed was born on Nov. 28, 1949 in Olean and was the son of Edward Burr and Nellie G. Bastow Reed Sr. He was formerly married to Sharon Tompkins. Mr. Reed had previously lived in Texas and Louisiana. He has worked at a number of jobs including being a painter, working in a restaurant, landscaping, and roofing. Mr. Reed was known as a Jack of all trades and master of none. Mr. Reed enjoyed fishing, going to concerts and sports including dirt track racing. Surviving Mr. Reed are three children, Neal (Maria Converse) Reed Jr. of Olean, Sherri L. Reed of Olean, and Kris J. (Dorothy) Patterson of Olean; two brothers, John Reed of Olean, and Edward (Alice) Reed Jr. of Bradford; two sisters, Joyce Reed of Binghamton, and Penny Guman of Harpersville, N.Y.; a life long friend of the family, K. F. Marshall of Port Crane, N.Y.; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Reed was predeceased by an infant son, Michael Reed; an infant brother, Jackie Reed; two brothers, Norman Reed and Tomas Bastow; and a sister, Salley Lemon. There will be celebration of life gathering on Thursday, June 11 from 3-4 P.M in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
