Mr. Virgil G. Pixley, 2004 West Sullivan Street, Olean passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Olean General Hospital. Born in Machias on June 4, 1926, Mr. Pixley was the son of Gordon D. and Calla Pollard Pixley. On October 6, 1945, at St. Bonaventure, he married the former Geraldine Ayers, who survives. Mr. Pixley was a retired line stocker for Cooper Industries. He enjoyed golf, sports, and reading, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mr. Pixley is survived by a son, Philip Pixley of San Francisco, CA.; a daughter, Patricia (Pete) Quattrone of Olean; three grandchildren, Tracy (Andy) Ludden of Olean, Julie Baer of Olean, and Jenny (Steve) DeSanto of Hornell; six great grandchildren, Alex & Jake Baer, Katie & Emily Ludden, Dominic & Gina DeSanto; a brother, Howard Pixley of Seminole, FL.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pixley is pre-deceased by three brothers - Duane, Norman and Donald Pixley. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 2-5:30 P.M. at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 P.M. with Father Gregory J. Dobson officiating. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
