Mildred M. Norton Formerly of 421 South Union Street, Olean and the Chapel Ridge Assisted Living passed away on Sunday August 30, 2009 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. Mrs. Norton was born on August 25, 1910 in Woodfield, Ohio and was the daughter of Thomas J. and Anna McDivitt Hughes. On July 29, 1939 in Bolivar she married her husband of 48 years, Joseph E. Norton. He owned and operated Rexx Al Drug Store (Norton's Pharmacy) in Olean for 50 years until he passed away on March 28, 1987. Mrs. Norton graduated from Woodfield High School with the class of 1927. She also attended Ohio University. Mrs. Norton was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church for almost 75 years. She enjoyed gardening and working around the house. Mrs. Norton enjoyed being with her nieces and nephews especially her niece Kathleen Hugh Foller who predeceased her. Surviving Mrs. Norton are three nephews, Robert (Rita) Hughes of Dallas, TX, Patrick (Barbara) Hughes of Huston, TX, and Thomas Hughes of Olean; and two nieces, Shelia Shively of Olean, and Sandra Ferguson of New Jersey. Mrs. Norton was predeceased by two brothers, Richard J. Hughes in 1984, and Frances P. Hughes in 2008. At her request there will be no public visitation. Plans for a memorial service are incomplete at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chapel Ridge Assisted Living #200 St. Francis Dr., Bradford PA 16701 or Bradford Ecumenical Home #100 St. Francis Dr., Bradford PA 16701.
