Obituary of Omar A. Kent

Omar A. Kent 307 N. 18th Street, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 in the Cuba Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Mr. Kent was born on July 9, 1925 in Olean, NY he was the son of John and Elizabeth Yahn Kent. Mr. Kent married the former Jean Greer who predeceased him in 1992. Omar served in the U.S. Army for four years during WW II. In 1960 he started his own electronics sales & repair and music store at 2202 West State which was known as Omar's Music. He at one time had stores in the Olean, Bradford and Jamestown Malls as well as the one on West State. He retired about 1998 after 30 years in business. Mr. Kent was a member of the St. Mary's of the Angels Church and former member of the Olean American Legion. He enjoyed his work and playing golf. Mr. Kent is survived by one son, Terry J. Kent of Olean; four grandchildren; a special friend of 13 years Grace E. Nunamaker of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kent was pre-deceased by a son Jeff Kent in 1964; two brothers, Neal "Bud" Kent and Herbert T. Kent; and a sister, Jane Wood. Friends will be received tonight Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 from 7-9 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday Dec. 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
