Obituary of Nancy E. George

Nancy E. George of 1634 Goodrich, formerly of Queen Street, Olean, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2009 in the Bradford Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. George was born on March 27, 1930 in Olean and was a daughter of Harold and Leah Baker Littlejohns. On August 4, 1951 in Olean she married her husband of almost 58 years Richard S. "Dick" George.
Mrs. George worked at Super Duper Grocery Store, High Q before going to work at the Olean High School in the Cafeteria, where she had been the Head Cook 12 years when she retired in 1992.
Mrs. George attended Trinity United Methodist Church and her family was very important to her. She enjoyed quilting and visiting people. Mrs. George belonged to several sewing and quilting groups and she loved to travel with her husband and family and she love to cook. She also belonged to the Sweet Adelines.
Surviving Mrs. George besides her husband are four daughters, Amy E. (Steve) Wilson of Binghamton, Ann M. (William) McIntyre of Fredonia, Nanette Higgins of Olean, and Alison (Jerry) Swain of Mount Morris, NY; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Galeazzo, Renee Birt, Karen Humbert, Michele Wilson, Allen Wilson, Jessica Higgins, Leah Swain, Matthew Swain, and Katelyn Swain; two great grandchildren, Bradley Galeazzo, and Ashlynn Galeazzo; one sister, Patricia Salvan of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. George was pre-deceased by a son, Curtis R. George on March 1, 1975; a brother, Robert Littlejohns, and a granddaughter, Jacqueline Noel Higgins.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 4-7 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Gerald Piper will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, NY.
