Obituary of Dennis I. Cody

Mr. Dennis I. Cody formerly of South Second St. Olean and also Rochester passed away on June 6, 2009 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cody was born on October 22, 1926 Caribou, Maine, he was the son of Luis and Martha Adams Cody. On August 18, 1984 in Rochester N.Y. Mr. Cody married his wife, Jane Lefler, who survives him.
Mr. Cody served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from May 8, 1952 to April 27, 1954. He work for Gleason Works as a Mechanic for 16 years. Later he worked for Mobil Oil Co, in Macedon NY, in the maintenance department where he retired from in 1999 after 10 years. Mr. Cody was well known for volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Olean and he also cooked for the Olean Senior Center.
Mr. Cody attended the Saint Mary of Angels Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cuba American Legion. Mr. Cody enjoyed fishing, gardening and was a very good bowler in his day.
Surviving Mr. Cody besides his wife are two sons, William (Jennifer) Cody of Rochester, and Edward Cody of Rochester; two daughters, Marty (Laurel Frishmon) Cody of Turlock, CA., and Denice Cody of Turlock, CA.; a sister, Thelma Ricci of Boston, Mass.; a grandson, Ryan Cody-Berry of Turlock, CA.; and many friends including, Harold Sodeur of Olean.
Mr. Cody was predeceased by two brothers, Stan "Buck" Cody in 1999, and William F. Cody in 2001.
There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Olean Senior Center on North Barry Street on Thursday, June 18, 1009 at 11:15A.M. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church will officiate. At Mr. Cody's request his cremated remains will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.
