Obituary of Loretta A. Ferry

Loretta A. Ferry of Colonial Village, Lot 105, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Olean General Hospital following an illness. Mrs. Ferry was born on March 5, 1927 in Otto and was the daughter of John J. and Laura Sherman Emke. On March 11, 1978 in Olean, she married George F. Ferry, Sr., who pre-deceased her on October 29, 1998. Mrs. Ferry worked part-time at Tops for a number of years in the mid 1990's. She was a member of the Olean First Baptist Church. Mrs. Ferry was a former member of the Olean Moose, Olean American Legion, and both the Olean and Allegany Senior Centers. Mrs. Ferry loved animals and she enjoyed playing cards, as well as time with her family. Mrs. Ferry is survived by two stepsons, Steven A. (Caroline) Ferry of Bolivar, NY and George F. (Rebecca) Ferry, Jr. of Olean; two stepdaughters, Deborah J. (Al) Skinner of Olean and Tina A. (James) Farmer of Olean; two sisters, Evelyn Brewer of Ellicottville and Caroline Lang of Irving, NY; four nieces & nephews, Bill (Helena) Brewer, Linda (Brian) Dobson, Susan (Paul) Evans, and Dennis (Alice) Brewer; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ferry is pre-deceased by three brothers, John Emke, Larry Emke, and Fred Emke; and one sister, Leona Emke. Friends and family will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 10:00 to 12:00 am at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Daniel E. McDowell of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SPCA 2944 Olean Hinsdale Road, New York 14760.
