Please share a memory of Greta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Greta (Ault) Yeaples, of 791 Fishing Creek Road, went to be with her husband, a great granddaughter, and other deceased family members, on Sunday, December 3, 2017. Greta was born on Sweitzer Drive in Duke Center, PA on July 1, 1932 and was a daughter of Raymond and Florence Lily Ault. On April 14, 1949, she married her husband of 47 years, Howard Yeaples, who predeceased her on Nov. 5, 1996. Greta moved away briefly to Buffalo, NY returning to Rixford and finally back to Duke Center where she intended to live out her life. She attended Otto-Eldred High School until the 10th grade. Greta loved to socialize, collect elephants, play cards, going to bingo, crocheting, swimming in her pool, going to the casino, bowling, doing cartwheels, listening to impromptu music around her kitchen table with friends and family, and singing karaoke. Greta will be remembered for her great job as a loving mother, her ability to mother neighborhood children and nieces that flocked to her home for refuge or love, her 32 years of hard work at Corning Glass work, her dedication for children in need at St. Jude's Hospital, her strength through disappointments and celebration, for leaving a mark on many hearts, wearing hers on her sleeve and healing those who needed it. Her smile will never be forgotten. Greta was the pillar of our lives until the very end. Greta had 11 siblings, she is survived by Theresa Ishman of Cyclone, PA, Virginia Gray of Eldred, PA, Beulah Ross of Corry, PA, and many nieces and nephews. She and Howard had 6 children, Patricia (Gary deceased) Silsby, Charlotte (Michael) Sikula, Ellen (Philip deceased) Young, Howard (Anita) Yeaples, Judy (John) Mix, and Greta (Jeff) Edminster. Greta had 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Along with her loving husband, Greta is preceded in death by Edward Ault, Richard Ault, Raymond Ault, Harold Ault, George Ault, Robert Ault, Mary Louise (Ault) Johnson, Edie (Ault) Davis and a great granddaughter Olivia Douglas. She left specific instructions concerning her burial. There will be no viewing or burial service, and she will be laid to rest in Steamburg Cemetery with her beloved husband, Howard. Immediate family will gather at her grave site to say their final goodbyes at a later date. A special thanks to her daughter, Judy Mix and her husband, John, for welcoming her into their home and graciously providing excellent care to her throughout the last year of her life. Also a special thanks to her care givers Jay and Diana, whom she grew to love. Greta will be missed with great love.
