Obituary of Kenda R. Stern

Kenda R. Stern of 458 Wolf Run Road, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness. Kenda was born on May 4, 1947 in Olean and was a daughter of Kenneth F. and Dona M. Wagner Reiss. On Feb. 1, 1995 in Florida she married her husband of 21 years, William A. Stern, who survives. Kenda graduated from Portville Central School in 1965. At a young age she started working on the family game farm on the Wolf Run Road for many years. Kenda graduated from the Continental School of Cosmetology in 1969. She owned and operated her own Beauty Salon in Cuba until 1971. Kenda raised blood hounds, miniature horses, Arabian horses, Alpacas, and Spanish Andalusian Horses for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and observing nature. Along with her loving husband, Kenda is survived by two sons, Kenneth N. "Noel" (Jowita) Shaffer and Khris R. (Jessica) Shaffer both of Portville; three grandchildren, Kristian M. & Kenzi P. Shaffer, and Kamil Murawski; and one brother, Kenneth G. "KG" (Debra) Reiss of Portville. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State St., Olean, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Graveside Committal Service will be held at the family mausoleum in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Richard N. Keel will officiate.
