Born: Barbara Ann Sipple on September 11, 1936 in Netcong, NJ. Died: September 6, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, NY. Daughter of Peter and Mary Smith Sipple of Netcong, NJ. Sister Barbara was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY, at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on July 2, 1959, and professed her final religious vows on July 3, 1966. Sister devoted herself to the life and mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany for more than 55 years. Sister graduated from St. Michael School, Netcong, NJ in 1949 and Bayley-Ellard High School, Madison, NJ in 1953. Prior to entering the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany in 1959, she began her education at St Clare Hospital School of Nursing, New York City, receiving her R.N. In 1963, she completed her B.S. in Nursing from D�Youville College in Buffalo, NY. In addition, Sister attended St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, NY, earning a B.S. in Education in 1970. In light of Sr. Barbara�s educational background, she ministered in both the fields of education and healthcare. For 35 years, Sr. Barbara served in various capacities in Congregational hospitals and schools in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Florida. For ten of those years, she worked in Medical Records at the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean, NY. Sister returned home to the Motherhouse in 2002, at which time she volunteered in many capacities, bringing much joy to all who came in contact with her. Sister Barbara is predeceased by her parents; five brothers, Thomas, John, Edmund, Joseph, and James; and six sisters, Elizabeth Sipple, Kathleen Klag, Helen Crocoll, Rosemary Rowen, Ann Nersesian, and Margaret Sipple. She is survived by her brother Kevin Sipple and his wife, Marilyn; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Wake Service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, followed by burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, New York. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean, New York. ceased by her parents; five brothers, Thomas, John, Edmund, Joseph, and James; and six sisters, Elizabeth Sipple, Kathleen Klag, Helen Crocoll, Rosemary Rowen, Ann Nersesian, and Margaret Sipple.
