Obituary of Calvin D. Murphy

Calvin D. Murphy, of 431 North 1st St., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Calvin was born Oct. 30, 1940 in Lowville, OH and was a son of Roy and Genevieve Clark Murphy. On March 31, 1962 at St. Rayfield's Church in Eldred, PA he married his wife of 54 years, Thelma A. Keech, who survives.
Calvin started working for Conrail Railroad in 1975 and retired over 25 later in 2006. He also worked at Boser Farms in Allegany and Florida, Faulkner's Fruit Stand in Ceres & Delray Beach, FL, Charles Giardini in Allegany, and Self Storage and Clean Sweep for a number of years. Calvin attended the Five Mile Baptist Church. He truly enjoyed his family and his Grandchildren were the "apple of his eye." Calvin will be remembered as a "very good man."
Along with his loving wife, Calvin is survived by four sons, Carl D. Murphy of Cuba, Thomas A. Murphy of Olean, Kevin A. (Jody) Murphy of Olean, and Harold L. (Melinda) Murphy of Allegany; twelve grandchildren, Payton, Brandon, Brittany, Brandon, Emilee, Kiley, Matthew, Alan, Gracie, Ashley, Dekotha (Shawn), and MacKenna; two great grandchildren, Greyson & Skyla; two siblings, Darlene (Robert) Keech of Shinglehouse, PA, and LeRoy (Martha) Murphy of Wooster, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Calvin was predeceased by one grandson, Cameron J. Murphy on May 4, 1995; and one sister, Barbara Andrews.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State St., Olean, on Friday Feb. 10, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Tom Potter, Deacon at the Five Mile Baptist Church, will officiate.
