Mr. Grant Cassidy Sr. of 2906 Rogers Road, Allegany, passed away on Wednesday December 17, 2008 at Olean General. Mr. Cassidy was born on November 3, 1930 in Scio, NY and he was the son of Howard and Mabel Patterson Cassidy. On March 20, 1951 he married his wife of 57 years, Gertrude Giles who survives. Mr. Cassidy served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1968 at which time he moved to Hinsdale. Mr. Cassidy worked for Worthington, Grants and then Blumenthals and he also taught Electric at BOCES. He lived in Texas from 1977 to 1982 where he was a Parts Manager for Myers RV. Mr. Cassidy returned and lived in Friendship and then Cuba where he managed the Apartments on Meadbury. He then moved back to Hinsdale in 1984. Mr. Cassidy was a former member of the Hinsdale American Legion Norton Chambers Post 1434. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he enjoyed coin collecting and model trains. Surviving Mr. Cassidy besides his wife are three sons, Grant Cassidy Jr. of Weston Mills, Randy L. (Kimberly) Cassidy of Allegany, and Larry D. (Susan) Cassidy of Hinsdale; two daughters, Linda D. (Gary) Beardsley of Gastonia N.C., and Karen S. (Robert) Powers of Boxelder S.D.; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mr. Cassidy was pre-deceased by a brother, Theodore Cassidy; a half-brother, Ronald Newton; and a sister, Dorothy. Friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba where Funeral and Committal Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at 11:00AM. The Rev. Ronald L. Reichman, will officiate. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba N.Y. Members of the Hinsdale American Legion Norton Chambers Post 1434 will accord Military Honor's. Memorials can be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
