Allegany- George A. Conkey “Loving Husband, Son and Father” George A. Conkey of North 9 Mile passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Olean General Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. George was born June 1, 1960. He was the son of George F. Conkey and Millie A. Brown Piccirillo. On November 1, 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Joannie M. Papasergi, who survives. George worked for Potter Lumber Company, Al Lemon Service and on April 21, 1998, he saw his lifelong dream come true and opened Conkey’s Automotive and Towing and he made sure that the rest of us were right there with him. 25 years later we still were. You could always find him in his tow truck out on the roads helping anyone that needed it, it didn’t matter what time of day or night. He would take sons Chris or Cory with him (and sometimes Joannie when the boys weren’t around). He always said it was an adrenaline rush to get those vehicles flipped back over, pulled out of a ditch or as Chris calls it “Going Fishing for those vehicles 250 feet off the road”. If he wasn’t in his tow truck you could find him in his garage working on his “toys”. George loved camping and every Saturday night you could find him and his camping buddies playing cornhole for hours. After 20 years of camping with his friends, they became his family. He was a member of the Allegany American Legion, Ingjald Lodge #65 in Bemus Point, the Vikings Marina Club, the Rod & Gun Club in Lakewood, NY and The Enchanted Mountain Snowmobile Club. Besides his loving wife of 42 years, he is survived by his 2 sons, Chris (Brenda) Conkey and Cory (Kaylee) Conkey. 2 Grandchildren, Annabella Conkey and Jackson Hewitt. His mother Millie (Pat) Piccirillo, step siblings Teresa, Lisa, Annette and Mike. Sister in Laws, Lorrie (Howard) Wesley, Teresa Margeson, Tricia (Toby) Lindberg and Brother-in-Law Ed Kallenbach, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends who have always been there for him. George was predeceased by his father George, sister Kathy Kallenbach, In Laws, Guy and Vivian Papasergi and Brother-in-Law David Margeson. “Life will never be the same without him, but we will keep his legacy alive as we always promised we would. Fly High, until we meet again…” Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Monday June 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Tuesday June 27, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Kim E.
