Rochester- Betty J. Carter “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”
Betty J. Carter of 7 Evergreen Dr. formerly of Olean, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Highland Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.
Betty was born on April 8, 1951 in Olean and was the daughter of Donald Eugene and Virginia M. Marshall Ursoy. She was formerly married to Thomas A. Graves and Jeffery P. Carter.
Betty attended Olean High School and attended Continental School of Beauty where she received her license in cosmetology. Betty began working at Ray’s for many years and One on One Hairstyling for a total of 30+ years retiring in 2015 when she moved to Rochester. She began working at Chestnut Ridge Elementary School as a lunchroom monitor. Betty loved children. She was formerly a member of the Lighthouse now known as the Church Without Walls.
Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing laughing and being outside in the sun, but most of all she loved her family especially her grandchildren. Her faith was very important to her and she enjoyed reading her bible which she passed onto her family. Betty always wanted to take care of other people putting them first.
Betty is survived by; 2 daughters, Tina M. Klemann and Amanda F. Carter both of Rochester; 4 grandchildren, Scott Klemann, Nellie Klemann, Jace Carter and Azmira Maull; a sister, Yvonne D. (Paul) Matya of Olean and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, an infant daughter, Tamiyko Carter and several siblings.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 2:00-3:00pm at the Church Without Walls, where a memorial service will be held at 3:00pm. The Rev. Tyrone Hall, Pastor will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. A complete obituary will be in Thursday’s paper.
