Obituary of Gayle M. Swatt

Allegany- Gayle M. Swatt “Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother” Gayle M. Swatt of 122 North 1st street passed away on Nov. 1st, 2022, at Olean General Hospital. Gayle was born on Dec. 25th, 1939, in Olean and was the daughter of Howard and Julia Weitzel Anderson. On Dec. 24th, 1975, in Indianapolis, she married David E. “Bud” Swatt who predeceased her on Aug. 24th, 2022. Gayle was a 1957 graduate of Olean High School. After graduating she served in the United States Navy until 1959. Gayle worked as an X Ray Technician for several years in Batavia, Olean General Hospital, and in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. Gayle lived in Indiana, Florida, and New York. While in NY she resided in various towns including Olean, Belfast, Batavia, and Wellsville before moving back to Allegany. Gayle enjoyed gardening, weeding, sewing, and knitting. Gayle is survived by her two daughters, Leigh D. VanDeWalker of Hinsdale, and Stephanie E. (Eric) Dillon of State College, PA., six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Gayle was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Bud, two brothers, William “Bogo” and John H. Anderson. There will be no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
