Deloris J. Blade formerly of 331 West Delaware Ave., passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 in the Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. Deloris was born Sept. 27 1932 in Wake Forest, WV and she was a daughter of Ralph Robert and Ruby Katherine Farley Foster. On March 16, 1952, at the Four Square Gospel Tabernacle in Olean, she married her husband of 67 years, Kenneth A. Blade, who predeceased her on July 25, 2013. Deloris graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1950. She worked at the Olean Tile Plant, Ickes Cookies, and the Alcove Restaurant, before becoming a seamstress for Bradner's Department Store. Deloris volunteered at Project Head Start and then became a teacher's aid, where she worked for 37 years, until her retirement. Deloris was a long time member of Grace Alliance Church, where she was very active in the choir and held various positions. She enjoyed cake baking and decorating, sewing, quilting, gardening, and crocheting. Deloris was a league bowler for many years. Deloris is survived by six children, Kenneth G. (Nancy) Blade of Olean, Brenda J. Pierce of Limestone, Lance R. (Laurie) Blade of Carnegie, PA, Danita J. Colley of Olean, Andrea J. (Thomas) Butts of Alamogordo, NM, and Ellena J. Blade of Olean; 25 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; five siblings, Nancy Mounts of Hanover, WV, Kaye Le Vaughn of Newman, GA, Willard Foster of North Carolina, Etta Lorraine (Gordon) Cline of Tazwell, VA, and Patricia (Robert) Michaels of Warsaw; and three stepbrothers, Bobby, Johnny & Joey Foster. Along with her loving husband, Deloris was predeceased by an infant son, Barry A. Blade; a son, SFC Brian K. Blade on Aug. 11, 2016; a daughter, Carla J. Blade on Dec. 14, 2001; a grandson, Geoffrey Anderson on March 2, 1999; and four siblings, Ellen Marie Foster, Margaret Foster Tuttle, Leonard Foster & Ralph Foster, Jr. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. J. Wesley Gilbert, Pastor of the Rock of Revelation Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olean. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Absolut Care of Dunkirk, Activities Fund, 447 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, New York 14048 or to the Memory Garden Activities Fund, 560 Fairmount Avenue, Jamestown, New York 14701.
