Olean- John S. “Stephen” Brennan
At 7:55 pm on July 20, 2022, our dad, John S. Brennan, known by many as Stevie left to join his mother Dorothy Rafferty, father Donald Brennan, sister Patricia (Hughie) McGranigan and sister Nancy (John) Copella in heaven.
Born February 15, 1943, in Olean, NY and formerly married to Karen L. Cornelius of Bradenton, Florida.
He leaves behind his sister Maureen Brennan of Cuba, NY, a brother Michael (Bonnie) Brennan of Lakeland, Florida, thirteen grandchildren, John Latten, Michael Latten, Kaitlyn Latten Thompson, Joshua Lampack, Kyle Lampack, Zachary Lampack, Jeffery Lampack, Abigail Lampack, Madison Lampack, Shawn Champlin, Brian Champlin, Joseph Champlin and Brandi Champlin Peterson, twenty two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his first born, pride and joy and the one he chose to take his last breathe with, Katrina (the late Patrick) Latten of Olean, NY, his second daughter Kimberly (Paul) Lampack, the one most like him and his youngest daughter Kristine (Mark) Kellner, whom he resided with and referred to as “Queen Bee”.
In 1964, he and his childhood friend Billy Vansickle enlisted in the United States Army where they were stationed in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. Stevie and Billy remained close friends throughout their lifetime, and we will forever be grateful for his many visits with our father after his health declined.
Known by some as a man with a personality much like Archie Bunker which could occasionally get him into some trouble, he was mostly a quiet man who enjoyed the company of his beloved pet Rudy and his visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Once he moved to McDuffy Road, he loved being greeted every morning by the pet pig Paisley and making his way to the barn to visit the other animals. Stevie was a kind and generous man and even though he didn’t have much, he would give his last dollar to help someone in need.
Please join us for a memorial service at 2810 McDuffy Road, Olean, NY on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 1:00 pm where full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 Ritual Team, followed by a reception hosted by his niece whom he thought of like a daughter Chauncy Crowley at the Bolivar Country Club. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
