Olean- Kathleen J. Joy-Kirkendall “Retired Dresser Rand Engineer”
Kathleen J. Joy-Kirkendall of 803 West Henley Street passed away on July 9, 2022 at the Pines of Machias following an illness.
Kathleen was born on November 26, 1950 in Olean and was the daughter of Judge James and Edith Wilson Crowley. On October 11, 1991 in Salamanca where she married the love of her life Oliver L. Kirkendall who survives.
Kathleen was a class of 1968 graduate of Olean High School where she was the salutatorian. She was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and Rochester Institute of Technology. Kathleen worked as an Engineer at Dresser Rand for over 30 years retiring in 2006.
Kathleen enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling, and gardening but most of all she loved her kitties.
Along with her loving husband, Oliver, Kathleen is survived by; son, Walter James Joy of Olean; step-children, Kimberly (Kevin) Kirkendall-Lewis of Nazareth, PA and Kevin L. (Linda) Kirkendall of Bethlehem, PA, and Heidi (Gary) Casey of Olean; step son-in-law, Don Hennley of Springhill, FL; granddaughter, Sera Joy Casey; 9 step grandchildren, Renee Brown, Jacob Brown, Iris Shreve, Marissa Lewis, Amanda Lewis, Annette Kirkendall, Maggie Kirkendall, Justin L. Kirkendall, and Scott L. Kirkendall; 2 great grandchildren, Adam L. Kirkendall and Lily Kirkendall and sister, Mary Ann (Tom) Quincin.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents and a step-daughter, Sheri Hennley.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
