Bradford- Robert J. “Bob” Hurley
Robert “Bob” Hurley of 254 Langmaid Lane passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.
Bob was born on October 6, 1940, in Dunkirk. He was the son of Richard Fredrick and Esther Armbruster Hurley. Bob was formerly married to Carole L. Grover. On April 9, 1995, he married Kay Cooley, in Olean who survives.
Bob graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk, NY. While there he broke the school record for most points in basketball. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from SUNY Fredonia and served in the Airforce during 1962-1966. Bob worked for the N.Y.S. Dept. of Labor in Olean, NY for over 35 years and retired as a Veterans Representative. Bob previously served Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Bradford, PA.
Bob was an avid reader. He loved all sports and every genre of music. He enjoyed traveling. His favorite place was London. Bob spent hours doing jigsaw puzzles and then donated them to local Nursing Homes.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kay, 6 children, James M. (Debra) Hurley, Kelly A. (Joseph) Carlson, Kathy L. Hurley, Karen J. Branch, Kristen S. (John) Gillespie, Kim M. Thurston, two stepsons, Johnathan D. (Shirley) Schierer and Gregory A. (Leigh Anne) Schierer, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings, Marsha Miller and Mary (Michael) Kirst, as well as many nieces and nephews.
