Olean- Jason B. Fox “Local Musician, Teacher & Conductor” Jason B. Fox of 138 North 9th Street passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Olean general hospital following an illness. Jason was born May 8, 1967 in Olean and was the son of Bernard and Carolyn S. Haberly Fox. On February 21, 1991 in Allegany he married the love of his life Ann M. Taylor who survives. Jason began playing trumpet when he was 9 years old, and it became his life-long passion. While attending Allegany Central School, in addition to band, he enjoyed being given more challenging math assignments, and playing sports. After graduating high school, he went on to graduate from Central Methodist College with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. Jason was always up for a challenge and was very competitive. After college, Jason was an owner/operator Domino’s Pizza franchisee, GED teacher for CA BOCES, teacher and band director at St. Bonaventure University, Olean City School District, and Chautauqua Institution Music Camps, all while participating in local band groups, theater pit orchestras, and other gigs. He also competed in local bowling leagues, and made time for trout fishing for many years. Jason always prided himself in his knowledge of music history, theory, and performance and he loved sharing it with people. He always looked for his mother, wife, and children at his concerts. He made sure to pass on musical talent to his children. Family, friends, and fans of Jason Fox will miss not only the man, but also the amazing sound of his trumpet playing. In recent years, he became a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and worked as the choir director and trumpeter Along with his loving wife Ann, Jason is survived by; 4 children, Christopher J. (Jolanta) Fox of Rochester, Amanda S. (Zachary) Slater of Cuba, Sara A. (John Enlow) Fox and Maria J. Fox both of Olean and a grandson, Kilian F. Slater. Jason was predeceased by his parents and an infant sister Lisa Beth. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 109 South Barry St., Olean from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev Kim Rossi will officiate.
