Obituary of Thomas L McCarthy

Olean- Thomas L. McCarthy “Loving Husband and Father” Thomas L. McCarthy of 102 2nd St passed away on Monday March 14, 2022, at Olean General Hospital following an illness. Thomas was born on June 3, 1955, in Geneva and was the son of Thomas R. and Betty Reinard McCarthy. On March 7, 1992, he married his loving wife Debbie M. Fanton McCarthy in Andover who survives him. Thomas was a member of the JC’s of Wellsville. Thomas worked as a custodian at the Jones Memorial Hospital, Alfred University, and the Allegany County Court House. Thomas also enjoyed working at the Chit Chat Bar and Grill in Wellsville. Thomas loved woodworking, fishing, and reading. He had a great sense of humor and loved to cook. Thomas is survived by his wife, four children: Betty Jo (Thomas) Wilson of Belmont, Tanya A. McCarthy of Olean, Amber L. McCarthy of Olean, and stepson, Kyle W. (Loretta) Fanton of Wellsville, 6 grandchildren Abigail (Abbie) McCarthy, Luke Wilson, Bradley Wilson, Pyper Wilson, Deikon McCarthy, Lily Mckracken, a sister, Candy A. (David) Burdick of Wellsville, stepbrothers, Paul W. Lounsbury of Allegany, and Gary (Beth) Giddings of Zypher Hills, FL. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, a son, William W. McCarthy and a brother, Gerald “Alan” Giddings. Friends will be received on Tuesday March 29, 2022, from 5:00-6:00pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean a memorial service will follow where the Rev. Douglas Travis, Pastor of Harvest Ministries Church will officiate.
