Olean- Karen L. Buchinger “Loving Mother & Nana” Karen L. Buchinger of 102 W. Spring Street Apt. 16, formerly of 306 N. 11th Street, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness. Karen was born on May 13, 1939 in Olean and was the daughter of the late John R. and Dorthea O. Taylor Harding Sr. Karen was a 1957 graduate of Olean High School and a 1976 graduate of OBI. She worked at both Sears and AVX for a period of time before going to work at Quality Markets where she worked in the deli department for about 10 years. Karen a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church where she formerly served on their Atar Guild. She was also a member of the Senior League of ECHO. Karen delivered for Meals on Wheels for a period of time. She enjoyed visiting her family in North Carolina but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Karen is survived by; 2 children, Joe Williams of Allegany, and Denise M. (Gene) Kasperski of Friendship; 5 grandchildren, Felisha Buchinger, Tyler Kasperski, Joey Williams, Gillian Williams, and David Buchinger; a great granddaughter, Harper Henton; close friends “The Golden Girls” and Patty Dempsey her childhood friend; and several nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her parents, a son, David Buchinger in 2013 and a brother, John R. Harding in 2020. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
