Obituary of Donald H. Adams

Olean- Donald H. Adams, "Loving Father & Grandfather" Donald H. Adams, after a short illness and with his family by his side at home, entered into paradise on January 6, 2022. He gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ on March 27, 2018. Donald was born on September 2, 1927 in Olean, to Charles H. and Luella Lydick Adams. Don grew up on Union Valley in Hinsdale, New York, and attended a one-room school house on Union Valley Road. He received his high school diploma while in the military. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was employed at Luther Manufacturing, Olean, and retired from the American Olean Tile after 32 years. Don was a life member of the Portville American Legion Post 814 (69 years); past Portville American Legion Post 814 Commander; past Cattaraugus County American Legion Commander; past Chief De gar of Cattaraugus County Voiture 219-40 & 8; past American Legion 8th District Cheminot of the 40 & 8; and, past President of the Glass and Ceramic Worker’s Union Olean local 151. He was a member of the American Red Cross Century Club having donated over 35 gallons of blood-31 gallons to the Olean Chapter of the American Red Cross along with donating every year at the American Legion Department and National conventions. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, motorcycle riding, and antique cars. He was a member of the Olean Motorcycle Club. The clubhouse was located on the Allegany River and became his families’ camp which they still enjoy today. Memorials made by made to the American Legion Post 814, PO Box 469, Portville. Donald married Rose A. Brehm in 1953. She was the mother of his three children, Lee C. and Linda C. of Olean, New York and Dean J. (SuAnn Hill) Adams of Jamestown. He was the grandfather of Morgan Lee Adams of Arizona and James D. (Amber Harding) Adams of Shinglehouse, Pa. He was the great grandfather of Skyler Breman and Haleigh J. Adams. Don is also survived by his twin sister, Doris Bennett of Hinsdale and by several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Thomas (Deborah) Adams of Portville,. Don Later married Katheryn M. Shay who survives along with her daughter Barbarba Shay. Don is pre-deceased by an infant son, Dale J. Adams, a twin to Dean, who died shortly after birth and by two brothers and their wives, George (Elma) Adams and Charles (Lois) Adams, and a stepson Timothy Shay. A graveside service will be held at the convinces of the family. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Portville American Legion PO Box 469, Portville NY 14770 or to any local Legion of your choice.
