Obituary of Betsy A Grimes

Knapp Creek – Betsy A. Grimes Betsy A. Grimes of 129 Chipmonk Road passed away on Monday November 22nd, 2021 in Olean General Hospital following a brief illness. Born on March 24th, 1958, in Olean she was the daughter of Andrew T Martin and R. Frances McClure. On April 26th, 1980 Betsy married Franklin E. Grimes Jr. Betsy was a 1977 graduate from Olean High School she continued her education receiving a certificate from Olean Business Institute for business management. She worked for a number of places including Hills Department Store, AVX and then OMG. She then started at Advanced Monolithic Ceramics in 1993 where she retired from in 2013 when they closed and removed their Allegany plant. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist church in Knapp Creek where she was currently serving as assistant treasurer. In her spare time Betsy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, feeding birds, and spending time with her family. She loved being a grandma. In addition to her loving husband of 41 years, Betsy is survived by two sons; Franklin E “Tadd” (Jennifer) Grimes of Knapp Creek and Alex M. (Lynn) Grimes of Buffalo, a granddaughter, Haidyn E (Chickaddee), five siblings, Rosemary (Thomas) Orcutt, Rebecca (Lloyd) Long, Veronica Martin, George “Bootsie” Martin, all of Olean, and Chris Gardner of Brandenburgh Kentucky. Betsy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, four siblings; Tom, Michael and two infant sisters, one brother in law Bill Gardner, and one sister in law Kelly Martin. Friends will be received on Wednesday November 24th, 2021at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at which time, funeral and committal services will be held. The Reverend Gerald C Piper of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate.
