Cuba – Douglas E. Travis, Sr. Douglas E. Travis of 2480 Wolf Creek, Rd. Cuba, NY passed away Tuesday Oct. 26, 2021 in the Olean General Hospital following an illness. Doug was born Nov. 14, 1947 in Olean and was the son of Edward and Alveretta Lewis Travis. He is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years Joan P. Woodard and was formerly married to Roberta A. Hasard. He was attended Olean Schools System and graduated from Portville Central High School in 1966. Douglas worked for Dresser Rand as a welder before moving to Connecticut and then to Alaska, where he worked as a welder on the Alaskan pipeline. During that same time from 1975 to about 1998 he also started his own construction company called Dynamic Construction. Which he operated for 15 years before moving back to Olean. Douglas was an avid hunter and fisherman, Buffalo Bills and Sabers fan. He is survived by 5 children Douglas E. (Maggie) Travis, Jr., Olean, William M. “Bill” (Alvey Baker) Travis, Hinsdale, Ronald J. Travis, Olean, Tracy L. Witt, San Diego, CA, Wesley Travis, San Diego, one Step daughter Heidi L. Woodard. Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. One Sister Nancy (Al) Melcher. He is Predeceased by his parents and one brother James Travis. Services will be held at a date and time to be announced. In lieu of Flowers memorials can be made to Harvest Field Ministries & Soup Kitchen, 406 W. State St, Olean, NY 14760.
